The Catalan Minister for Innovation, Universities and Enterprise visits CIRCUTOR
On the 9th of May, CIRCUTOR had the honour of receiving the Minister for Innovation, Universities and Enterprise from the Generalitat de Catalunya, Josep Huguet, who was interviewed with the company management and had a brief tour of the installations, showing his satisfaction at the end of the visit.
The new GEM Group to coordinate the R&D work of the CIRCUTOR group companies

The two primary aims of GEM Group, the new company created by CIRCUTOR to coordinate and manage the R&D work of the group's companies, are to detect the future needs of the market and to accordingly guide the most innovate solutions in order to contribute to increased energy efficiency.

CIRCUTOR, an indisputable leader in the design, manufacturing and commercialization of industrial electrical protection, measurement and electrical energy control and reactive energy compensation equipment, has created the new Global Energy Management Group (GEM Group) for the management and coordination of the R&D work of the group's companies. Within this new business unit, a group of experts will be responsible for detecting the future needs of the market and guiding the most innovative solutions according to these needs in order to achieve increased energy efficiency.

Ignasi Mier, until now director of CIRCUTOR, will take charge of leading this new company. Francisco Rosique, bringing his ample experience in the sector to the post, will be the new director general of CIRCUTOR. One of the most immediate objectives is to maintain the company's leadership in the energy efficiency technology sector, promoting said activity and developing the future of the company.

Emissions from the industrial and electrical sectors rise by 3% in 2007
The Spanish government puts the rise down to the water shortage provoking a reduction in hydroelectric power generation and an increase in thermal energy production

The CO2 emissions of the electrical and industrial sectors both increased last year by slightly more than 3% in comparison with 2006, according to provisional data provided by the Secretary General for the Prevention of Pollution and Climate Change, Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri. The acting Minister for the Environment, Cristina Narbona, had previously reported a decrease of 0.3% in the emissions of greenhouse gases within the industry, before data for 6 or 7 large-scale installations was available.

Aizpiri explained that it is necessary to add to the reduction announced by the minister an increase of approximately 5% in the emissions from the electrical sector, largely due to meteorological factors, since the "extreme water shortage" has led to a decrease in hydroelectric power generation and, therefore, an increase in thermal energy production.

However, the emissions of the non-energy-related industrial sectors, representing slightly less than a quarter of the national emissions inventory, have either been slightly reduced or have stabilized, "within the context of strong economic growth and strong production growth". This means that "the energy efficiency of the Spanish economy continues to increase", meaning that, taken together, the emissions of the electrical and industrial sector would have increased by 3%.

POWER WATT LT SQL

Three-phase meter reading software

PowerWatt is software for automatic reading and management of CIRCUTOR energy meters allowing permanent consumption control. Its user-friendly interface makes it suitable for all user types.

What makes this software innovative is the use of a SQL database, thus allowing a considerably larger amount of information to be managed.

The SQL format is an international standard enabling users to carry out external applications from other data base formats, e.g. Microsoft Access, and to consult the required information.

Main features:
• Real time monitoring of the values measured by the meter.
• Conf iguration readings for dif ferent parameters.
• Downloading iles from the equipment and even programming these downloads into an automatic way.
• Exporting files to a standard format
• Display of the downloaded parameters into tables and graphs.
• All managed through a SQL database format, allowing quick and simple access to information from other applications.
